To the excitement of Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock and Gov. John Hickenlooper, United Airlines has decided to expand their flight facility operation in Denver. The expansion will create 225 high-paying jobs.
“The decision by United Airlines to locate their entire training facility here is a testament to the region’s standing as a hub of innovation and prosperity,” Hancock said (Rebchook, Denver Real Estate Watch).
The expansion illustrates the great change and progression occurring in Denver. Whether you’re in Cherry Creek, RiNo, Lowry or another Denver neighborhood, you’ve probably noticed the cranes and construction cones.
In less than a year, London-based financial services company, WorldRemit, chose Denver for its new North American headquarters and operations center. Prologis, a San Francisco-based developer of industrial real estate, relocated its headquarters to Denver. Priority Wire and Cable, Inc., expanded its national network with the opening of a distribution center in Central Park. The list goes on. Businesses realize the prosperity to be garnered in Denver and are quickly capitalizing on the momentum.
United explicated its plans will “…make a significant capital investment totaling about $40 million to the Central Park site.” According to officials, “This investment will catapult development of the nearby Central Park Station transit-oriented development, activating a key place on the Corridor of Opportunity” (Rebchook, Denver Real Estate Watch).
In response the announcement, Tom Gleason, Vice President of Public Relations for Forest City (now Brookfield Properties), said:
Central Park is one of the nation’s most highly acclaimed new urban neighborhoods where a diverse mix of housing types and pricing in a walkable community provides a high quality of life for employers and their employees.
The United Training Center is within walking distance to the transit oriented development Forest City (now Brookfield Properties) will create at the new Central Park Station on the FasTracks rail line that will connect Central Park to Downtown and DIA in spring of next year, just south of the new Central Park Boulevard interchange on Interstate 70.
