Our Neighbors: Park Hill

Traveling through Park Hill, one can find small enclaves of shops and businesses that serve its residents and surrounding neighborhoods.  The corner of 22nd and Kearney is a perfect example of this.  There you will find Bang hair salon, Ciji’s pet store, The Grape Vine liquor store, Cake Crumbs bakery, Dardano’s dance studio, Tables restaurant, a veterinary office, Obilo’s Pizza, and more.  This fun and eclectic city block is just minutes from Central Park.

Another popular block in Park Hill is 23rd and Cherry Street, home to Adagio’s bakery, The Cherry Tomato restaurant, a dog grooming/daycare shop, a flower shop, a book store, and the famous Spinelli’s market.

The Elm has become south Park Hill’s popular neighborhood bar, and is situated next to Jett, an Asian restaurant and bar on Colfax and Elm.  Another new tenant who moved to south Park Hill recently is Marzycks, located at the corner of Fairfax and offers specialty food items, a meat market, delicatessen and a popular wine store. Across the street from Marzyck’s is The Abbey Tavern, an Irish pub/restaurant and the soon to open, Nuggs Ice Cream shop.

Park Hill hosts many annual events that have become a tradition for those in the Denver metro area to attend.

New this year, on May 17 and 18, is the Park Hill Arts Festival, part of the Colorado Artist Tour.   This is an outdoor juried fine art/fine craft show that will be held on the grounds of the Park Hill Masonic Lodge at 4819 E. Montview Blvd., 10 am – 5 pm daily.   We’re looking forward to this one!

Need ideas for your garden?  Don’t miss the annual Park Hill Garden Walk , an annual event where residents of this unique and historic neighborhood open their yards and gardens to visitors each year. The annual garden walk takes place in June.   Enjoy strolling through some of Denver’s most stunning gardens.  Stay tuned for more information.

The Park Hill Home Tour and Street Fair is held in the fall each year.  The street fair is free and open to the public with up to 100 vendors, food trucks, bands, kid’s activities and a wine and beer garden. There is a ticket fee for the Home Tour.   We will update you soon with more information.

This year marks the 5th annual Park Hill 4th of July Parade, a parade for kids and adults alike.   The spirited parade route starts at Dexter Street and continues on to Krameria Street.  The parade begins at 1:30 pm and will include marching bands, bikers, floats, classic cars, acrobats and more.   Interested in participating?  Please contact the parade organizers at 303.918.6517 or email parkhillparade@gmail.com.
